This publication was designed to support the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan, a cross-sector framework uniting communities across the island of Ireland to create landscapes where pollinators can survive and thrive.
Implemented by the National Biodiversity Data Centre and overseen by a 15-member all-island steering group, the plan addresses an urgent environmental challenge: one third of wild bee species now face extinction.
The design brief was centred on translating complex ecological information into an accessible, actionable roadmap for diverse audiences—including local authorities, businesses, farmers, schools, sports clubs, and home gardeners. The publication needed to communicate the causes of pollinator decline (habitat loss, pesticides, pests, disease, and climate change) while inspiring collective action.
Established in 2015, the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan called for a shared visual language that would unite these different sectors around a common goal. This design project delivered a publication that balances scientific credibility with community engagement, providing clear guidance on how landscape management can restore pollinator populations to healthy levels. The result is a resource that empowers readers to take meaningful steps—together, we can make a difference.
